About the Business

One of the oldest—and lesbian-centric—queer bars of Broadway, the Sweet Water Saloon was once an Italian restaurant back in the mid-1900s (and yes, the original logo for the restaurant lingers on the space's westward wall).

Unabashedly kitsch, general manager Terry Watts (who also oversees its sister location, Broadway Bar, down the street) has not only kept up with the times—you can find Stella Zero as much as you can stiff pours—but managed to maintain the essence of the Gayborhood.
