Celebrating Women’s History: A Cocktail Competition is a tribute to the women shaping and elevating our industry. Hosted by Port City Tavern in partnership with Mijenta Tequila, an award winning artisanal small batch tequila brand that is proudly woman owned and operated, and Brian Addison, this competition honors the creativity, leadership, and impact of women behind the bar.
Competition Details
Objective:
Create an original cocktail featuring 1.5 oz of any eligible Mijenta products, showcasing your unique skills and creativity behind the bar.
Eligible Mijenta Products:
● Mijenta Blanco
● Mijenta Reposado
How to Enter:
1. Submit Your Recipe: Send your original cocktail recipe to portcitytavernlb@gmail.com by February 23rd, 2026.
Your recipe should include:Cocktail Name, Ingredients List (be sure to include measurements), Instructions (how to make the cocktail)
2. Submit a Photo: Along with your recipe, send in a photo of yourself—either a headshot or a shot of you working behind the bar.
Competition Rules:
● Original Cocktail: Your recipe must be 100% your own creation—no pre-existing cocktail recipes.
● Mijenta Focused: The cocktail must feature at least 1.5 oz of one of the approved Mijenta Tequila products.
● Bar Location: You must currently work at a bar located in Long Beach to be eligible.
● Submission Deadline: All entries must be submitted by February 23rd, 2026.
Judging Criteria:
The top 4 cocktail submissions will be selected to compete at the event. All cocktails will be scored based on the following criteria:
● Presentation (25%) – How visually appealing is the cocktail? Does it make an impression?
● Creativity (25%) – How unique and inventive is the cocktail? Does it push the boundaries of traditional mixology?
● Balance & Taste (25%) – Is the cocktail well-balanced? How does it taste—are the flavors harmonious?
● Complexity (25%) – How intricate and thoughtful is the cocktail? Does it demonstrate skill and technique?
Event Highlights:
● Networking Opportunity: A great chance to connect with fellow service industry professionals from Long Beach.
● Prizes & Recognition: Winners will receive prizes and recognition for their creativity and skill.
● Celebration of the Service Industry: Come together with your peers to celebrate the work and dedication of the service industry!

The competition is open to all service industry professionals working at bars in Long Beach, but spaces may be limited—make sure to send in your entries on time.
